TO ACHIEVE A FLAWLESS BASE…
As the party season is fast approaching now is the time to think about your winter skin. Your tan has faded, you feel pasty and anemic! The heating is back on and is generally playing havoc with our skin.
As your skin is your biggest organ and your face is the bit on show in the winter, here are a few of my tips to help you be the Belle of the ball.
Get into a routine of giving yourself regular mini facials, a scrub once or twice a week will keep your skin looking very clear. Give a little moisture back by appling a good quality mask once a week too.
If the time allows have a course of facials at a salon. One a month is ideal, especially before a wedding. Always check that the facial includes a good massage. Relaxing the muscles and draining the lymph is so important- it can take years off you!
Invest in a good moisturizer. If you exfoliate you will need to use less moisturizer as it will be far more effective, as it wont be sitting on dead skin cells but actually able to penetrate the skin and do what it is supposed to … moisturize!
With your skin looking so good your foundation will look great too, plus you will use less, therefore saving you money!
My favourite foundation at the moment is the amazing foundation by Bobby Brown, Luminous Moisturizing Treatment Foundation. It makes my skin glow and I seem to get lovely comments when I’m wearing it. £34
I sometimes add a little Mac strobe cream to really up the glow when I feel I need it. £24.50 I recently tried
Shimmering Skin Perfector by Becca as recommended by one of my clients and that is fab too. There is a lovely brush to apply it with. I will be buying one when I run out of my strobe cream!
Choose a foundation depending on your skin type and the coverage you require, ranging from either full coverage to a lighter one, barely there.
Once you have the right product next choose the right colour. The perfect foundation should disappear into your skin. Ask at the counter if you can have a sample of a couple of shades of foundation to take away, as the lighting in department stores is very yellow and you can end up wasting your money buying the wrong colour. Apparently women buy 7 foundations before they find the correct colour.. That is a lot of wasted money!
To make a tinted moisturizer or a cc cream add your foundation to your moisturizer or sun lotion.
Another tip I always give my clients is that you really can’t do any product that you use justice, unless you have the right tools to apply it so invest in a good foundation brush. Mac have wonderful brushes but Crown also do good quality and are considerably cheaper.
Don’t forget to clean your brushes regally as they can habour nasty germs.
Once you have the perfect base you can then decide to go for a fresh ‘no-makeup’ look or something bolder- either way, you are bound to get compliments on how lovely you look!
Have fun experimenting!
I love this photograph by Paul. It was shot in Blanc de Blanc at Le Manoir. We had so much fun getting our very playful bride ready, she was having a wonderful morning. I think Paul has captured that feeling and excitement in this photograph.
You may have fallen into a bit of a rut with your makeup, or just like something a little more convenient, or simply fancy a treat…
well look no further than the awesome Naked pallets by Urban Decay.
They are brilliant!
THIS is how Urban Decay does neutral! Far from boring, Urban Decay’s Naked Palette features a shade range that runs from the palest champagne to the grittiest gunmetal. Not just “shades of beige”, each shadow has a distinctly Urban look, yet works for EVERYONE.
I love these pallets, the colours are long lasting and the pallet is so convenient to carry around. Use them for a soft daytime look that can easily and quickly be turned into an evening smokey look while you are out and about. No need to carry lots of different colours as the pallets have everything to suit whatever mood and event you are going to. They are great for vintage, bridal, party, romantic, special occasion, day or night looks.
The colours are very blendable so it is easy for you to create a professional look, especially with the brush that is included in pallets 2 and 3.
All 3 pallets have a selection of luminous shades that shimmer and sparkle through to the smoothest of mattes. The sparkle is lovely and doesn’t ‘fall’ like a lot of other brands do. The pallets cost £37.00 each, a bargain really when you consider the quality and convenience of this product.
Naked is the first pallet that Urban Decay produced and quickly became a firm favourite with everyone. The pallet has 12 colours all with lovely warm bronze hues ranging from light to dark. There is such a great selection of colours, any makeup look is achievable.
Naked 2 has more taupe colours and is a good colour choice for most people who only want to buy one pallet. It has some of the old favourite colours from the first pallet with some new soft taupe hues.
Naked 3 has a more rose hues. All the colours in this pallet are original so it is fab to have along side Naked 2 if the budget will allow! This pallet has turned into their best seller… it is easy to see why.
Naked 2 and 3 include a professional-quality, cruelty-free double-ended shadow/blending brush AND an Eyeshadow Primer Potion sampler with resealable samples of all four formulas (original, Sin, Eden and Anti-Ageing). Each sample holds about a week’s worth of Primer!
If you want to get ahead of the game, sign up to the Urban Decay mailing list and you will be the first to hear about new products, tips and special offers.
I’m sure I recently saw a picture of a lovely box containing all 3 Naked pallets- I haven’t been able to find it since so possibly I was dreaming! It would be amazing if they did bring one out though. I know a lot of people who would add it onto their Christmas list… including me!
If you have one of these pallets let me know which is your favourite.
Today I’m going to focus on those amazing mirrors to your souls, your eyes!! They say that, despite common assumption otherwise, men really are first attracted to us girls with amazing peeps (and then, of course, they might check us out in other areas, so to speak)!
The build up to Christmas is most definitely the season of the eye and there are are some fantastic vibrant colours out there to choose from. It’s all about making it bold, reflecting the girl power in all of us!! And I love it!
I particularly like Bobbi Brown’s Aegean blue metallic eyeshadow and YSL’s 5-colour couture palette.
Rule of thumb, though, is to never apply eyeshadow to skin that hasn’t been prepared beforehand with some sort of eyeshadow primer – this moisturises and softens the very delicate skin around your eye, and ensures your eye make-up last the day and night. I really recommend Urban Decay’s eyeshadow primer potion or Smash Box eye primer.
This is a look which would be perfect for a hallowe’en party, where you would want to look sophisticated and elegant as well as that little bit foxy and devilish! This look was created by Dior. I would also add lashings of mascara as I never leave home without it!
I loved the long hot summer that we had and miss the simplicity that summer brings but I am now trying to embrace autumn. Im enjoying getting back into my lovely boots and big thick jumpers but I’m struggling with the tightness of tights.. my feet are feeling very claustrophobic!
At this time of year many people begin to suffer from coughs and colds. Here are my top tips to keep fighting fit.
Meditation: I swear by it! I meditate daily, It revives me and gives me so much more energy. I feel more relaxed, calm, focused and able to concentrate. I usually do the Yoga Nidra , The wholeness of nature by Swarmi Janakanada. find it on spotify or iTunes. It last for 20.23 minutes, it will be the best 20.23 minutes of your day! I play it to my clients when I am massaging them or to very nervous brides to calm them! It never fails to work.
While your body and mind are in a meditative mode you are allowing them to repair themselves. Don’t feel guilty about it.
Vitamin C: M&S pure orange juice-You can feel it killing cold bugs! Great for hangovers too!
Borocca: I think the Tropical flavour is the nicest. Full of vitamins and minerals to give you a boost. I take these when I know I am getting low but haven’t got time to stop.
Eat well: Cook using lots of herbs, they are natures natural healers, eating them raw is even better. Stick to wholegrain, natural, not diet/ chemically filled food. Eat food that doesn’t come with packaging and labelling, that way it is simple and natural and not full of preservatives and e numbers.
Bake Tomatoes, chilli, garlic, fresh basil and lemon slowly in a little olive oil with balsamic vinegar. Cook until soft and caramel-ey, then toss into fresh wholemeal spaghetti. It is not only delicious and low in calories, it only takes 5 minutes to prepare. Win-Win
Eat food that is in season; it tastes better and is cheaper to buy.
The old adage ‘you are what you eat ‘ is so true. Clear skin, bright eyes and abundant energy does not come from a processed meal.
Sleep:Invest in the best bed, duvet and sheets that you can afford. It is money so well spent. You can probably hear me sigh from the moon when I get under my Egyptian cotton sheets… sheer bliss!
Ginger Tea: It is amazing! Please take look at my previous blog for the recipe. It is magic stuff! If you have already succumbed to a cold make it any way as it will speed up your recovery.
Exercise: Get those endorphines racing. Even when you just can’t be bothered, doing a little bit of exercise makes you feel so much better. Sit ups improve your digestive system- so just doing 20 a day will help you stay toned and keep your eyes looking brighter as you are removing the toxins before they build up.
The best classes in Oxfordshire are run by;www.nixercise.co.uk. They are outdoor sessions, whatever the weather. Prepare to get wet, blown over and rolled in mud but you will feel amazing after it!
Debbie Thomas; She will kill you with laughter in her classes. You will be giggling so much you won’t realise how hard she is working you… that is, not until 2 days later when you try to sit down! owchh!
Be nice to yourself! I think we put so much pressure on ourselves to be super women these days that we can end up feeling like failures. Don’t compare yourself to anyone else. Don’t live your life watching other people on social media looking like they are having fun…if their life is so much fun how come they have the time to upload to FB?!
And finally,DO ONE THING EVERYDAY THAT MAKES YOU HAPPY, LAUGH AND SMILE: WHether that be meeting a friend, reading a book, walking the dog, whatever, JUST DO IT AND ENJOY THE MOMENT.xx
This is so much fun!!
Thank you to everyone that has voted for us- Please feel free to vote for us if you haven’t already done so!

I decided to enter the awards this year. They are prestigous annual awards with 27 categories to include all of the wedding industry. I have entered into the hairdressing category, I had intended to enter into makeup category too but unfortunately I just missed the entry time by an hour and a half!!
I have asked my lovely brides from this year if they would consider voting for me and I have been really humbled by the amazing response that I have had. Everyone is so busy, it really means the world to me that people are taking the time to vote and saying such lovely things! Here are a couple of snippets ..
“I’ve just completed my vote! I’m thrilled that you are nominated, as it’s richly deserved. I genuinely wouldn’t have wanted anyone else to do my hair and make up. It was so much fun and looked fantastic! Mum and my bridesmaids all said how lovely you are and how much they enjoyed it too. So, THANK YOU! x” Olivia
“Of course, consider it done. I’ve left you glowing comments, i really hope you win! Let me know how you get on It’s been crazy busy since the wedding and i’ve been meaning to drop you a message to say thanks for all of your amazing help (as well as Floss of course!) we were all so happy with our styles, one of my bridesmaids even said her hair was styled better than she had at her own wedding! Thanks so much again :)” Louisa.
I am so lucky to have such lovely brides to work with. x
The regional winners are announced in November with the National winners announced at a big award event in London in January. My fingers are crossed.
Everyone is more likely to show up against a micromanager at some time, thus focusing on how to manage them is very important. It could not be for your factors you think. Evaluations must be optimistic for both parties, and also you do not need to create the problem worse. Only do it, when they desire things done in a specific technique. Only knowing you are one of many could make the situation more easy to handle, plus you may not be unable to replace suggestions about how exactly to deal with the specific situation. Tip 9 carry-on Regardless you may merely carry-on, do issues is likely to method, although Youll need a solid skin for this 1, and take care of the implications.
